Election Chaos 2024: ‘Christians Must Wake Up Amid Election Chaos!’
(ChristianCountry.com) – The 2024 election is shaping up to be the most consequential and unusual political showdown in at least a generation, with historic elements emerging near-daily.
2024 was widely regarded as the most significant election year in history, and for good cause, even before the controversy surrounding the most recent debate between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump.
National elections are scheduled for seven of the ten most populated countries in the world, including the US, throughout the year. However, the conflict between Biden and Trump draws the greatest domestic and international attention.
Christian Post reporter Ian Giatti is starting a new investigative podcast to examine the election landscape through interviews with prominent Evangelical voices from all political persuasions.
Given the intense scrutiny surrounding the US political scene, Giatti hopes to engage with various people and perspectives.
The podcast Politics in the Pews, which will debut on July 12 across platforms (subscribe here), will explore various topics, including the history and impact of the Evangelical movement in American politics, the positions held by churches and Christian leaders, and more.
Giatti stated that his goal is to “get Christians engaged and involved” in investigating the reasons behind this election’s significance. “We want to really focus our audience and Christians at large in America to start thinking about the significance of this election,” he continued.
Take a listen to Giatti’s “Politics in the Pews” preview:
“The “Politics in the Pews” host noted an undeniable reality: that this “unusual election” could get “even more unusual as we go forward,” which is why he’s hinging his investigative podcast on critical ideas and discussions surrounding the campaign and election.
“[We want to take] a look at where we’ve been as a country and as the Church,” Giatti said. “The history of the religious right movement, for example, the Moral Majority, how Evangelicals have influenced politics over the last half-century.”
The program also attempts to investigate the election’s significance, the issues involved, and why Christians should pay particular attention.
Giatti’s ultimate goal is to inspire voters to cast ballots in November.
“[We want to] make sure Christians understand — please, please go out and vote, regardless of what you may think about election integrity, regardless of what you may think about all that’s going on,” he said. “Go and carry out our civic duty.”
Giatti also aspires to “awaken people to the time that we’re living in,” though.
“The country is undergoing a lot of changes right now,” he said. “And I think we all feel it, we all sense it, and it will continue to do so regardless of the outcome of the election.”
Giatti continued, “I think we, as the Body of Christ, need to start thinking practically. … I think we need to start understanding what it looks like to apply what we learned through the Word and in fellowship and take it into the world and into the culture.”
Apart from the podcast’s launch on July 12, there will be a unique live “Politics in the Pews” event at Fellowship Church in Grapevine, Texas, on August 27 (tickets available here).
This event will delve deeper into several crucial election topics while completing the podcast discourse.
This unique event will feature panel discussions on Trump’s influence, the history of the Evangelical movement, and the potential contours of a second Trump presidency.

Malaysia’s Official Religion: Preserving Islamic Heritage in a Multicultural Society
Malaysia is a melting pot of diverse cultures, religions, and ethnicities. With a population that includes Malays, Chinese, Indians, and various indigenous groups, the country boasts a rich tapestry of traditions and beliefs. Among these diverse religious practices, Islam holds a special place as the official religion of Malaysia.
Islam was brought to Malaysia by Arab traders in the 12th century and has since become deeply ingrained in the country’s cultural fabric. Today, approximately 61.3% of Malaysians identify as Muslim, making it the predominant religion in the country. In recognition of this, Islam has been enshrined in the Malaysian constitution as the official religion, with the king serving as the guardian of Islam in the country.
Despite its official status, Malaysia is a secular state, and respect for religious diversity is enshrined in the constitution. The government guarantees freedom of religion for all citizens, and recognizes the rights of non-Muslims to practice their faiths. This commitment to religious harmony has played a crucial role in maintaining peace and stability in this multicultural society.
One of the key challenges faced by Malaysia is preserving the Islamic heritage in the face of modernization and globalization. As the country continues to develop economically and socially, there is a concern that traditional Islamic values and practices may be eroded by outside influences. To address this, the Malaysian government has taken steps to promote and preserve the Islamic heritage.
One of the ways in which the government is preserving Islamic heritage is through education. Islamic studies are a mandatory part of the curriculum in Malaysian schools, and efforts are being made to promote a deeper understanding of the religion among young Malaysians. Additionally, the government has established institutions such as the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia, which showcases the rich history and culture of Islam in the country.
The government also supports initiatives aimed at preserving Malaysia’s Islamic heritage, such as the restoration of historic mosques and the promotion of Islamic arts and crafts. These efforts not only serve to preserve the country’s cultural heritage but also promote a sense of national identity and pride among Malaysians.
In conclusion, Malaysia’s official religion of Islam plays a significant role in shaping the country’s cultural landscape. While the government is committed to preserving and promoting Islamic heritage, it also recognizes the importance of religious diversity and tolerance in this multicultural society. By striking a balance between tradition and modernity, Malaysia is able to celebrate its Islamic heritage while also embracing the richness of its diverse religious and cultural traditions.

Religiously Informed Policies: Evaluating the Consequences for Democracy
[ad_1]
Religion has long been a prominent force in shaping public policy and governance around the world. Many countries have constitutions or legal systems that are deeply influenced by religious principles, and there are numerous religiously affiliated political parties that play key roles in shaping laws and regulations. However, the impact of religiously informed policies on democracy is a subject of ongoing debate.
On the one hand, proponents of religiously informed policies argue that they bring a sense of morality and ethics to governance. They believe that drawing on religious teachings can help ensure that policies are aligned with universal values and principles. Additionally, they argue that religion can play a crucial role in fostering social cohesion and a sense of community, which are key components of a healthy democracy.
However, critics of religiously informed policies raise concerns about the potential for discrimination and exclusion. They argue that policies based on religious beliefs can marginalize and oppress minority groups, infringing upon their rights and freedoms. They also point to instances where religiously informed policies have been used to justify violence and repression, undermining the principles of democracy.
One key issue in evaluating the consequences of religiously informed policies for democracy is the separation of church and state. Many democracies have enshrined this principle in their constitutions, aiming to prevent the influence of religious authorities on government decisions. When religious beliefs are allowed to play a significant role in shaping policy, there is a risk that the rights and freedoms of individuals who do not adhere to those beliefs may be compromised.
Furthermore, the politicization of religion can lead to divisions and conflicts within society. Religious differences are deeply personal and can be difficult to reconcile in the public sphere. When policies are based on religious beliefs, it can exacerbate these tensions and create a climate of intolerance and animosity.
In order to navigate the complex relationship between religion and democracy, it is important for policymakers to strike a balance between respecting religious beliefs and upholding democratic principles. One approach is to ensure that religiously informed policies are subject to rigorous scrutiny and debate within a diverse and inclusive public sphere. This can help guard against the risks of discrimination and exclusion.
Moreover, it is essential to uphold the rights and freedoms of all individuals, regardless of their religious beliefs. Democracy is built on the foundation of equality and a commitment to protecting the rights of minorities. Policies that are informed by religious beliefs must not infringe upon these fundamental principles.
In conclusion, the impact of religiously informed policies on democracy is a complex and multifaceted issue. While religion can bring a sense of morality and ethics to governance, there are also risks of discrimination and exclusion. It is crucial for policymakers to carefully evaluate the consequences of religiously informed policies and ensure that they uphold democratic principles and respect the rights of all individuals. Only by striking this delicate balance can we ensure that religion plays a positive role in shaping a healthy and inclusive democracy.

New Bill Grants Schools Authority to Hide Students’ Gender from Parents
(ChristianCountry.net)—On Monday, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a historic bill enabling schools to withhold information regarding a student’s gender identity from parents.
According to AB-1955, school districts cannot require staff members to reveal “any information related to a pupil’s sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression to any other person” without the student’s permission.
Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom remained silent over the law.
Every student in California deserves to feel safe, supported, and respected in our schools, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. That is why I supported AB 1955. pic.twitter.com/a270AIJDAM

Under the new rule, transgender adolescents will be able to identify as one gender in secret at school and as their biological gender in private, all without the knowledge of their parents. The first state with such a statute is California.
It was approved by the Senate 29–8 and the Assembly 61–16. Both houses are under Democratic control.
The bill claims that “parents and families across California understand that coming out as LGBTQ+ is an extremely personal decision and want to support their children in coming out to them on their own terms.”
“Parents and families have an important role to play in the lives of young people,” the bill’s findings say. “Studies confirm that LGBTQ+ youth thrive when they have parental support and feel safe sharing their full identities with them, but it can be harmful to force young people to share their full identities before they are ready.”
Critics of the new law assert that it sets families against teachers and violates parental rights.
The California Family Council’s president, Jonathan Keller, called Newsom’s signing of the law a “direct assault on the safety of children and the rights of their parents.”
“By allowing schools to withhold vital information from mothers and fathers, this bill undermines their fundamental role and places boys and girls in potential jeopardy,” Keller said. “Moms and dads have both a constitutional and divine mandate to guide and protect their kids, and AB 1955 egregiously violates this sacred trust.”
Republicans opposing the bill, Assemblyman Bill Essayli, claimed that Newsom’s backing “defied parents’ constitutional and God-given right to raise their children.”
“AB 1955 endangers children by excluding parents from important matters impacting their child’s health and welfare at school,” Essayli said. “Governor Newsom signing AB 1955 is both immoral and unconstitutional, and we will challenge it in court to stop the government from keeping secrets from parents.”

Should local, state, or federal governments have more rights over children than parents?
